What is a Giclee and Why is it Special?

A giclee print is a high-quality print created on a special ink-jet printer using the best materials. The term is a French term meaning “to spray” as an ink-jet printer does, but a giclee printer is a special printer, not just an average one. A giclee is professionally produced from a high-resolution file, on a printer that uses a process that prints higher resolution images. It can be created on canvas or paper with archival longevity in mind. My giclee prints are created using Canon LUCIA inks, which are pigment based with a wide color range for deep detail. Pigment based inks will last longer without fading. The LUCIA inks can last 100 to 200 years without any loss of color, especially when cared for properly. A true giclee will be created on a substrate that is archival and of exceptional quality. My prints created on William Turner paper by Hahnemuhle. It is a thick, luxurious paper with a slightly coarse texture giving it an elegant feel and depth. It is a 310g natural white mould made natural line paper with 100% rag content making it highly archival. These limited edition prints come numbered, titled and signed, with a certificate of authenticity, filled in by hand by the artist. They are packaged with an acid free (non-archival) mat in a protective sleeve, making them ready to frame in a standard frame size (does not come framed as pictured.)
