Biography

Curriculum Vitae

Andie Freeman (b. 1971) grew up in Holden, Massachusetts, and Hilton Head, South Carolina, surrounded by antiques and history that sparked her lifelong fascination with human connection through shared stories and ancestry. Her interest in time and collective memory permeates her work, alongside her deep love for nature and conservation.

Freeman earned her BFA from the College of Charleston, with an emphasis on life drawing and studio art, and furthered her education by graduating from the design program at Portfolio Center in Atlanta. Now based in Raleigh, North Carolina, she has exhibited her work regionally in 10 solo or joint shows and over 35 group exhibitions. Freeman’s art has been featured at the City of Raleigh Block Museum, the Coastal Discovery Museum, and Artspace. She won Still Life Artist of the Year in 2021 from Art Comes Alive in Cincinnati, Ohio, and her work has been supported through grants awarded by the United Arts Council of Raleigh and Wake County.

Freeman was selected as a Clark Hulings Fund Fellow in 2019 and the 2022-23 Season Visiting Artist for the North Carolina Theatre. She is represented by Camellia Art Gallery in Hilton Head, SC, City Art Gallery in Greenville, NC, and at the North Carolina Museum of Art Shop in Raleigh. Outside the studio, she can often be found hiking and camping with her family around the southeast — continually being inspired by nature.
