So you know what’s really neat about dropping six paintings off at a new gallery??? All of the beautiful space on my walls for new work! Yep, I have a lot of fun space for paintings, and a few brand new panels to fill up! This First Friday, I will be painting downstairs at Artspace as a demonstration for my Intro to Oils class that I am teaching this summer for ages 13-16. I hope you will visit me to see what I am working on!! Keep following me on Instagram @andiefreemanart, and I will start sharing on Facebook too (really, I promise) at Andie Freeman Fine Art to see my newest pieces and inside process images.
As I have been creating my current body of work, I have been kicking around a project that is related to the paintings but would be little bit of a labor of love. I’m not going to divulge that info yet to you since I am still debating it, but I will tell you that I am taking part in a global project called The 100 Day Project in the hope that it might help me decide whether I want to pursue the other project.
The 100 Day Project is a movement where participants decide with intention to create something for 100 days and share it with the world. It’s part support group, part accountability group, and part party. The concept was started by Michael Beirut of Pentagram Design fame. As a professor at Yale, he started this idea with his classes. Elle Luna picked up the idea years later to promote it as a global project for anyone who has a passion and wants to work on the discipline of doing something with intention for 100 days. My 100 day project is not a big departure from what I am doing but I will be making time for this (along with my business, along with teaching, being a mom and whatever else life throws at me) to work at a specific size, and on a specific subject matter. My hope is that it will build my muscle (as all of my work hopefully does) towards more beautiful art and also my muscle to share regularly about my life as an artist. I hope that you will follow, and comment about the pieces and which ones speak to you.
So, my theme is…. 100 days of yummy art! What the heck does that mean? Well, it means primarily small drawings and paintings of food, but I don’t want to limit it to just food, so it may just be a yummy sunny day too. But mostly food. And drink. And those things around food and drink. Please follow me on Instagram! My unique hashtag for the project is #100daysofyummyartbyandie, the hashtag for the entire global project is #The100dayproject.
